Dean Dexter Voisin discusses book for Cleveland Heights Public Library’s 1619 Project series

Dean Dexter Voisin sat down with John Piche, â€˜s outreach librarian, to talk about his book, America the Beautiful and Violent: Black Youth and Neighborhood Trauma in Chicago.

Piche runs a discussion group based around  at the library. Since October 2019, the  has featured 23 programs with more than 600 attendees.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Piche instead turned to virtual discussions, which are shared on .

In addition to Voisin, the series has highlighted Eric Foner, Richard Rothstein, David Waldstreicher, Bronwen Everill and Caitlin Rosenthal, among others.
