Gifts to Spur Innovation

Since 窪蹋勛圖厙 announced plans to build the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building in early June, alumni have already pledged more than $60 million for the project, citing its promise to enhance research capabilities at the university and reshape its campus. Its anticipated that century bonds issued by the university will account for half of the projects financing, with the remainder funded by philanthropic gifts. Early donors include:
- Roger E. Susi (CIT 77), whose $25 million commitment prompted a matching gift from the university to create a total $50 million investment;
- Board of Trustees chair and alumnus Fred DiSanto (WRC 85, MGT 86) and his wife, Brittan, who pledged $7 million;
- The Case Alumni Association, serving engineering, math and applied sciences alumni, which committed $5 million—the biggest gift in the organizations nearly 140-year history;
- Aarti (GRS 88) and Asheem (CIT 86, GRS 88) Chandna—co-chairs on the projects campaign cabinet—who committed $5 million;
- Larry Enterline (CIT 74) and his life partner, Kathy Richards—vice chairs on the projects campaign cabinet—who committed $2.5 million;
- Donors who made $1.5 million commitments: the Zubizarreta Family, including alumnus Miguel Zubizarreta (CWR 90); the Koch family, including University Trustee Charles Bud Koch; and
- Several donors who made $1 million commitments, including Tom Seitz (CIT 70) and his wife, Nancy; University Trustee Frank Linsalata (CIT 63) and his wife, Jocelyne; University Trustee Larry Sears (CIT 69) and his wife, Sally Zlotnick Sears (FSM 72, LYS 74); and University Trustee Joe Mandato, DBA (MGT 04).
