Colin McEwen connects the dots between academic research and real-world relevance—helping journalists tell deeper, smarter stories. He works closely with faculty across the School of Law, the College of Arts and Sciences and Weatherhead School of Management—surfacing stories that explore everything from artificial intelligence and corporate accountability to constitutional law and public policy.
A former reporter and editor, Colin brings a newsroom mindset to media relations: He’s focused on identifying compelling stories and connecting them to the right journalists, with a particular interest in making academic work accessible to broad audiences.
Colin joined the university in 2017 after serving as public information officer for the City of Lakewood. A 2023 graduate of ºÚÁϳԹÏ꿉۪s School of Law, Colin was previously the founding editor of Lakewood Patch, an online daily news site, and co-owned Mahall’s 20 Lanes—a bar, music venue, restaurant and the oldest bowling alley in Ohio—before selling the business in 2021.
He lives in Lakewood with his wife, Kelly, and their three children: Ruby, Clyde and Stelio.
