The ���ϳԹ��� School of Law community mourns the passing of retired law professor Calvin Sharpe, who died May 12, 2024 in Arizona after a long illness.

President Eric W. Kaler and Provost Joy K. Ward have announced that Paul Rose, associate dean for strategic initiatives at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, will begin as dean of ���ϳԹ��� School of Law July 1, pending Board of Trustees approval next month.

This spring, the Center for Business Law hosted the Norman A. Sugarman Tax Lecture. This year’s honoree and lecturer was Michael J. Graetz, who is the Justus S. Hotchkiss Professor Emeritus of Law at Yale Law School and the Columbia Alumni Professor Emeritus of Tax Law at Columbia Law School. 

This August, the world will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions on the Law of War. In conflict after conflict, they have successfully limited the savagery of warfare.

On March 1, 2024, the Law-Medicine Center hosted its annual national conference, which was devoted to the topic of Cognitive Decline and the Law this year. The conference provided a comprehensive overview of a large number of challenges associated with cognitive decline and approaches to addressing them.

Corey Whetzel will begin his fellowship at the American Pharmacist Association (APhA) shortly after graduation. The APhA is the largest association of pharmacists in the United States, and its mission is to advance the pharmacy profession. Only four individuals were selected for the 2024–2025 APhA Executive Postgraduate Training Program.

On May 15, 2024, ���ϳԹ��� School of Law held its tenth annual Celebration of Faculty. Co-Dean Michael Scharf kicked things off by summarizing some of the things the faculty can be particularly proud of this year. “Our faculty is ranked #36 in scholarly impact by the Sisk study, measured by citations and downloads of their works,” he reported.

Saturday, May 18, was the perfect spring day in Cleveland for ���ϳԹ��� School of Law graduates to celebrate their commencement.

Jonathan Adler joined Erwin Chemerinsky for a discussion about the Supreme Court, past and present, at the University of California at Berkeley School of Law on April 23.

When she first started law school, Heavenly Aguilar encountered the type of imposter syndrome many new students find familiar. But now, as she prepares to graduate with her JD this month, she  has one key piece of advice for incoming law students: 

As the keynote speaker of the annual Canada-U.S. Law Institute (CUSLi) Conference on April 18, co-dean Michael Scharf traced ���ϳԹ��� School of Law’s historic contributions to International Human Rights.

After he receives his diploma this month, Junwoo Shim hopes to embark on a fulfilling journey in the legal field where he can leverage his education to make a tangible and positive impact on the legal landscape. 

Jessica Chapman chose to complete her capstone requirement at the US Department of Justice Civil Rights Division Policy Section in Washington, D.C. Extremely active in the international law community at ���ϳԹ���, Chapman moved to the nation’s capital for a semester to try out a different practice area: domestic civil rights.

Talk about “March Madness”!  “When it comes to mock trial and moot court, ���ϳԹ��� School of Law is the equivalent of an elite NCAA basketball program,” said Co-Dean Michael Scharf.  

On April 10, the Center for Business Law hosted a public lecture featuring Mitu Gulati from the University of Virginia School of Law.
