Dorceta Taylor is a titan in the field of environmental justice, both as an academic and advocate. She has been instrumental in laying the intellectual foundations of the environmental justice movement. Her scholarship has impacted the direction of environmental justice work and has been a critical tool in empowering marginalized communities to fight for their environmental rights. Her transformative research has illustrated, both historically and contemporarily, the ways that environmental issues are inextricably linked to issues of race, class, and social justice, highlighting how Black communities have disproportionately bore the burdens of environmental hazards. She has written extensively about how the environmental movement has often excluded people of color and how it can be more inclusive moving forward.

Please join us as we learn from her about the challenges facing Black communities and reflect on the ways that in the future, those challenges can be overcome and pathways to resilience and sustainability more equitably pursued.

Free and open to the public. Registration is required.
