Monday, April 28 is the deadline for first-year undergraduates to withdraw from individual courses, elect the pass/no pass (P/NP) grading option for one course or withdraw entirely from the current semester.
Note that you may continue to process these requests in SIS until Monday, April 28 at 11:59 p.m. ET, but staff will not be available to support after 5 p.m. ET.
There are many factors and implications to consider before exercising any of these options, so it is important that you review these decisions with the appropriate individuals (e.g., course instructors, faculty advisor(s), your four-year advisor). Decisions to utilize these options may have implications on future course enrollments, , athletic eligibility, visa status, and degree progression.
Pass/no pass Grading Option
You may choose the for one course each semester (not including summer session), provided that you remain enrolled in at least three credit hours for regular evaluative grades. If you use the P/NP option for a course that is currently counting for a major, minor or general education requirement, you are agreeing to repeat the course for a letter-grade or take another course to meet that requirement in a subsequent semester.
You may process the P/NP option in SIS.
Course Withdrawals
Withdrawing from a course is a serious decision. Typically, when a student withdraws from a class, a notation of W will show for that class on your transcript, no credit will be earned, and there is no impact on your GPA. However, during your first two terms of enrollment at 窪蹋勛圖厙 (i.e. fall and spring semester), any course for which a grade of W is assigned will be removed from your official transcript. Refer to the for more information on the first-year withdrawal policy.
You are strongly encouraged to consult with your four-year advisor if a course withdrawal would result in remaining enrolled in fewer than 12 credit hours, as this can have serious consequences for , athletic eligibility, or visa status. In addition, you should review your degree requirements with your academic advisor to determine if a course withdrawal will impact your following semesters plans due to pre- or corequisite course issues.
Please view the University Registrars website for instructions to process a course withdrawal. If you experience issues with this process, consult with your four-year advisor and send a completed copy of the drop/add form.
Term Withdrawals
You are encouraged to speak with your four-year advisor if you are considering a term withdrawal to discuss these implications in more detail. The deadline for term withdrawals is the last day of classes on Monday, April 28, and grades of WD will be assigned in all courses.
Please note that if you completely withdraw from the Spring 2025 semester after the 11th Friday (which passed on Friday, March 28), you will not be eligible to enroll for the next summer and fall semesters. For more information, please review the and contact your four-year advisor.
Note: International students and varsity athletes who are currently competing must be actively enrolled in 12 credit hours to satisfy visa or athletic eligibility requirements. Questions can be directed to the Visa Office or the for further clarification.
